Spider, diagonal, wide, incline... What do all of these words have in common? They’re all forms of push-ups.
Throughout the month of June, TAG will be undertaking The Push-Up Challenge. Each team member will complete 3,249 push-ups, totalling 29,241 push-ups by the end of June with 9 TAG members participating.
You might be wondering why we're putting ourselves through this physical challenge. It's not just because we have an office full of competitive people! The Push-Up Challenge represents the 3,249 lives lost to suicide in Australia in the most recent year of available data.
Each day, the Challenge sets a push-up goal representing a mental health statistic from the previous year. From the percentage of Australians who saw a mental health professional to the number of Australians suffering from mental health distress, this challenge is for everyone.
At TAG, we've been encouraging each other to meet our daily push-up goals and sharing this experience together.
The main goal of the Challenge is to educate and raise awareness about mental health. It aims to de-stigmatise seeking professional help and make those experiencing mental health distress feel less alone.
If you're up for the added challenge of catching up on 1,400 push-ups, we definitely recommend you take on this challenge.
